Binsar Devta

Binsar Devta is a Hindu temple located at about 2480 meters (8,135 feet) elevation in Bisaona village, built with stone and featuring religious sculptures within its main chamber. The structure displays traditional craftsmanship typical of older mountain shrines, with the site offering views of the surrounding landscape.

The temple was built in the 9th or 10th century by Maharaja Prithu to honor his father Bindu, following the Katyuri architectural style found in the region. The shrine has retained these early structural features throughout its long history.

This sanctuary serves as a focal point for local worship, drawing devotees during the Vaikuntha Chaturdashi festival when the community gathers for prayers and ceremonies. The site remains an active place where people come to honor their spiritual beliefs throughout the year.

The site is best reached on foot, and visitors should wear sturdy footwear as paths are steep and can be challenging. Allow time for the visit and be prepared for varying conditions depending on the season and weather.

Natural springs emerge from the rocks within the temple structure, and water continues to seep through despite recent architectural changes. These water seepages form part of the site's character and hint at its age within this mountain setting.
