Atiq Jameh Mosque of Shiraz

The Atiq Jameh Mosque displays intricate tile work on its ceilings and features underground prayer halls called Shabestans for temperature regulation.

Built in 894 CE to commemorate the conquest of Shiraz by Saffarid Amroleiss, the mosque underwent substantial renovations during the Safavid period in the 1700s.

The southern section contains the Nodbeh Wall, decorated with cedar patterns, while the northern area features the Imam Gate with Mogharnas tile decorations.

Located east of Shah Cheragh Shrine, the mosque maintains separate prayer areas with the main entrance situated on the western side of the building.

The Khodaye Khane section houses a rare 30-part Quran manuscript dating from King Ismail Safavi's reign, making it a significant religious repository.
