Shemshak, Alpine ski resort in Alborz mountains, Iran
Shemshak is a ski resort in the Alborz mountains with slopes ranging from 2550 to 3050 meters in elevation. The facility operates multiple lifts including chair lifts and surface tow systems to serve the slopes.
The resort began when German engineers installed the first platter lift mechanism in 1948. International recognition followed in 1996 when it was acknowledged by the World Ski Federation.
This place serves as a gathering spot for Iranian skiers who come to enjoy winter sports together on the mountain. Experienced skiers particularly favor the steeper runs that challenge their technical abilities.
The resort sits approximately 57 kilometers northeast of Tehran and is reasonably accessible from the city. Operations run from December through March, opening around 8 in the morning and closing in the afternoon.
The resort is divided into three separate skiing areas, each with its own distinct name and character. This layout allows different parts to serve different skill levels and preferences.
