Viso, Mountain peak in Province of Cuneo, Italy.

Monte Viso rises to 3841 meters in elevation, forming a distinct pyramid shape visible from the Piedmontese plateau and Mont Blanc massif.

William Mathews and Frederic Jacomb completed the first recorded climb of Monte Viso on August 30, 1861, with guide Michel Croz leading the expedition.

The mountain contains a Neolithic jadeite quarry from 5000 BC, where ancient populations extracted stones to create ceremonial axes found across Western Europe.

Climbers can access Monte Viso through Valle Po or Valle Varaita, with Crissolo serving as the primary starting point for summit expeditions.

Monte Viso marks the source of Italy's longest river, the Po, which begins at Pian del Re at an elevation of 2020 meters.
