Parco del Monviso

Parco del Monviso is a protected area that rises from valley settlements through forests to a major mountain peak, encompassing diverse landscapes from lower grasslands to rocky heights. The terrain shifts noticeably as elevation increases, offering walkers different environments to explore.

The area was designated as a protected zone to safeguard the landscape after it had been used for work and livelihoods for generations. Over time its boundaries expanded to include additional important sections.

The area contains one of the significant mountain pine forests in the Alps, a forest type that visitors often pass without noticing. This particular woodland stands out from other alpine forests and has characteristics worth seeking out.
