Cascina

Cascina is a municipality in northern Tuscany within the Province of Pisa, situated across flat land with both residential and agricultural spaces. The area includes schools, medical facilities, and public services distributed across its territory.

The earliest written record of this settlement dates to 750, when it existed as a small medieval community. Over time the area became caught in regional conflicts, most notably during a 1364 battle between the republics of Pisa and Florence.

Two notable churches stand as focal points of local religious life: the Pieve di Santa Maria and a church in Zambra decorated with distinctive wall paintings. These structures reflect how faith and artistic expression were intertwined in the community over centuries.
