Praticelli, University dormitory in Ghezzano, Italy
Praticelli is a modern residential building for university students with rooms and communal spaces. The spaces are functionally organized to accommodate both academic and social living.
The residence opened in 2008 to house growing numbers of students at University of Pisa. Its creation responded to a need for additional accommodation as enrollment increased.
Students from many countries live here and share daily experiences together. Such diverse living communities build mutual understanding among people from different backgrounds.
The building offers various support programs for student life on site. Visitors should know the facility is primarily for residents and general tours are not freely available.
The project was designed by architect Salvatore Re and merges living space with targeted academic support. This integration of housing and educational help under one roof is uncommon for student residences.
