National Museum of San Matteo, Art museum in Pisa, Italy.

The National Museum of San Matteo contains a collection of medieval and Renaissance artifacts, including sculptures, paintings, illuminated manuscripts, and ceramic pieces.

The museum opened in 1949 within a former Benedictine monastery from the 11th century, preserving religious artworks from churches across the Pisa region.

The collection includes over 200 paintings from the 12th to 16th centuries by notable Italian artists such as Giunta Pisano, Berlinghiero, Masaccio, and Simone Martini.

Located at Lungarno Mediceo, the museum operates Tuesday through Saturday from 8:30 to 19:30, Sunday from 9:00 to 11:30, with wheelchair accessibility.

The museum holds the Mediterranean region's largest collection of ceramic basins and exhibits painted wooden crosses that demonstrate the evolution of religious art.
