Stadio Artemio Franchi, Football stadium in Campo di Marte, Florence, Italy
Stadio Artemio Franchi is a football ground in the Campo di Marte neighbourhood of Florence with space for 43,325 people. The continuous upper tier sits above smaller stands along each side of the pitch, creating open sight lines from all sections.
Architect Pier Luigi Nervi designed the venue, which opened on September 13, 1931, with a match between Fiorentina and Admira Wien. The home side won the opening fixture by one goal to nil.
The Curva Fiesole serves as the home section for Fiorentina fans who gather during home matches to chant and support their team. The violet jerseys worn throughout the ground connect supporters to the club and the city itself.
Visitors can reach the ground by train to Firenze Campo di Marte station or by bus lines 7, 17, and 20 from the city center. The journey takes around 15 minutes by public transport from the main railway station.
A 70-meter (230-foot) Marathon Tower with spiral ramps links the ground level to the main stand, allowing spectators to walk up without stairs. The concrete structure of the tower shows the technical signature of Nervi in clear form.
