San Miniato al Monte, Romanesque basilica on Monte alle Croci hill, Florence, Italy

The green and white marble facade features a geometric pattern and a central mosaic depicting Saint Minias between the Virgin Mary and Christ.

The construction of this religious complex started in 1018 under Bishop Hildebrand on the site of a 4th-century chapel containing Saint Minias remains.

The marble floor within the church contains zodiac symbols and geometric patterns that represent the twelve apostles through intricate medieval artistry.

Visitors can attend Gregorian chant masses in the crypt every Sunday at 10:00 and 17:30, with weekday services occurring at 17:30 during summer.

The sacristy walls display a complete cycle of frescoes by Spinello Aretino illustrating the life of Saint Benedict through detailed medieval narrative scenes.
