Giotto's Campanile, Bell tower in Piazza del Duomo, Florence, Italy

The white, green, and pink marble bell tower stands 84.7 meters tall next to Florence Cathedral, featuring Gothic architectural elements and detailed sculptures.

Construction started in 1334 under Giotto di Bondone's direction and concluded in 1359, with Francesco Talenti completing the project after Giotto's death in 1337.

The bell chamber contains multiple bells that mark important events in Florence, while the exterior displays relief panels depicting human activities and religious figures.

Visitors need to climb 414 steps to reach the observation platform, which provides views of the cathedral dome and Florence's red-tiled rooftops.

The tower's square base measures exactly 14.45 meters on each side and contains sculptures by notable artists including Donatello on its lower levels.
