Düsseldorfer Hütte, Mountain hut in Sulden, Italy
The Düsseldorfer Hütte, also known as Rifugio Serristori, sits at 2,721 meters elevation in the Ortler mountain range of South Tyrol. The building provides 65 beds for overnight stays and a winter room that accommodates six people.
The structure was founded in 1892 by the Düsseldorf section of the German and Austrian Alpine Club. After 1919, the Italian Alpine Club took over management of the facility.
The refuge carries both a German and Italian name, reflecting the shared alpine culture of the region. Visitors experience a blend of traditions from both nations in the architecture and how the place is used.
The location is open from June to October and offers good opportunities for hiking in the surrounding area. Visitors should note that weather at this altitude can change quickly and sturdy mountain boots are essential.
From this location, visitors can explore multiple alpine passes leading to Lasa Valley, Peder Valley, and Martello Valley. These high-altitude routes connect different valleys and provide diverse hiking options.
