Seilbahn Sulden am Ortler

Seilbahn Sulden am Ortler is a cable car system connecting the lower valley to mountain terrain above. The installation uses four cabin units, each carrying multiple passengers, working together to move hundreds of people per hour across the elevation change.

The current installation replaced an earlier cable car from 1975 and began operations in 2003. This modernization significantly increased passenger capacity and made access to the higher mountain regions more practical.

The cable car serves as a gathering point for mountaineers and winter sports enthusiasts accessing the Ortler range year-round. It shapes how visitors experience the mountain landscape and marks the beginning of most expeditions to higher elevations.

The journey to the upper station takes roughly 20 minutes and passes through different elevation zones. Bring appropriate layers and sturdy footwear, as conditions change significantly at higher altitudes.

The intermediate station features a single platform where both cable sections meet, allowing passengers to switch cabins seamlessly. This straightforward design keeps the operation running smoothly and keeps passenger flow moving without unnecessary stops.
