Church of San Carlo all'Arena, Naples

The Church of San Carlo all'Arena is a neoclassical building on Via Foria featuring an elliptical floor plan and marble interior finishes. Ionic pilasters support the facade and create a sense of classical proportions throughout the structure.

Construction of the church began in 1621 under architect Silvestro Cordella, working from designs by Dominican friar Giuseppe Nuvolo. Cistercian monks oversaw the completion of the building around 1681.
