Nicastro Cathedral

Nicastro Cathedral is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Lamezia Terme with a neoclassical facade decorated with busts of Saints Peter and Paul and former bishops. The building blends architectural elements from different eras, including a dome completed in 1935 and a facade renovated in 1925.

The cathedral was founded in 1110 and completely rebuilt after a devastating earthquake struck in 1638. Bishop Perrone oversaw the expansion and reconstruction, creating the larger structure that still stands today.

The cathedral serves as the spiritual heart of the Diocese of Lamezia Terme, drawing worshippers for daily prayer and religious observances. Wooden choir stalls from the early 1700s sit inside, reflecting the religious practices that have continued here for generations.
