Valbelluna

Valbelluna is a valley that extends along the Piave River between Feltre and Belluno. The landscape features gentle hills, scattered farmsteads, open meadows, and rows of trees spread across a wide area.

The area was inhabited in prehistoric times, and residents used ferries to cross the Piave. Later, Venetian influences shaped the architecture and culture of the valley.

The town of Mel preserves Venetian architecture, including the Palazzo delle Contesse and traditional buildings clustered around Piazza Papa Luciani. These structures shape the character of the place today and reveal how the region developed over centuries.

The Left Bank features numerous hiking trails running through farmland, with marked entry points near the main towns of Mel and Trichiana. The paths are well-developed and suitable for different ability levels.

Throughout the valley are rock formations called brents that create canyon-like structures and expose multiple layers of stone. These layers document thousands of years of geological history and reveal the region's ancient story.
