Santo Stefano is a church in Belluno with Gothic architecture featuring a stone facade with pointed arches and decorative details. The interior is divided into several chapels equipped with religious artworks, creating an open and bright spatial experience.
This church was built in 1486 and replaced an earlier building called Santa Maria della Grazie on the same site. This reconstruction occurred during a period when the city was renewing its major structures.
Inside you can see paintings by Cesare Vecellio depicting biblical scenes on the walls. The two wooden angels carved by Andrea Brustolon in the presbytery show the craftsmanship this place has preserved.

Beneath the church choir was discovered a Roman sarcophagus belonging to a cavalry officer named Caius Flavius Hostilius. This ancient relic was later moved to Palazzo Crepadona and shows that the site was built over a much older Roman settlement.
