Bibione, Beach resort in Veneto, Italy
Bibione forms the largest coastal settlement within San Michele al Tagliamento along the Adriatic shore in Veneto. The waterfront runs parallel to rows of hotels and vacation complexes set behind a continuous sandy strip.
The shoreline remained largely undeveloped until the middle of the 20th century when systematic tourism construction began. Within a few decades hotels and visitor infrastructure emerged to serve northern Italian and central European holidaymakers.
Local restaurants serve regional Veneto specialties, including fresh seafood dishes and traditional pasta recipes from northeastern Italian cuisine.
Cycling paths link the different sections and reach the lighthouse at the Tagliamento river mouth. The beach divides into numbered zones with assigned lifeguards and rental points for chairs and umbrellas.
Thermal springs feed several bathing facilities in the area and deliver mineral water from underground layers. The proximity to the river delta also creates a patchwork of freshwater lagoons and salt marshes behind the dunes.
