Sanremo Casino, Art Nouveau casino and theatre in Sanremo, Italy
Sanremo Casino is an Art Nouveau gaming house in Sanremo, Italy, located at 18 Corso Inglesi and linked to Piazza Colombo through Via Matteotti. The interior spreads across several halls with gaming tables, slot machines, and spaces that once served as theatre rooms.
French architect Eugène Ferret designed the building, which opened on 12 January 1905 after his proposal was selected from seven competing projects. Between 1951 and 1976, the house served as the main stage for the Sanremo Music Festival.
Since its opening, the building has drawn guests who come both for the gaming tables and for the rooms decorated with painted ceilings and gilded details. The hall served for decades as a stage for live performances, so the house today still carries a double tradition.
The rooms for traditional gaming open from 14:30 to 02:30 Sunday through Thursday, while on Fridays and Saturdays they remain accessible from 15:00 until 03:30. Visitors should note that a valid identity document is required for entry.
The building stands at a crossroads between Corso Inglesi and the shopping area Via Matteotti, making it visible from several directions. The foyer displays marble floors and wrought iron railings installed during the original fit-out in 1905.
