Salviati chapel, Renaissance chapel in Basilica of St. Mark, Florence, Italy
The Salviati Chapel features a monumental painted wooden tabernacle with a large altarpiece depicting the Martyrdom of St. Lawrence from 1611.
In 1611, Maria Maddalena Strozzi received authorization to renovate the chapel, entrusting the project to architect Gherardo Silvani.
The chapel contains numerous funerary monuments, including works by Lorenzo Bartolini and memorials to members of Polish aristocracy from the 19th century.
The chapel stands within the Basilica of St. Mark complex, requiring visitors to coordinate their visit with the basilica's general opening schedule.
Originally dedicated to the Holy Stigmata of St. Francis, the chapel changed its dedication twice, finally becoming devoted to St. Lawrence the Martyr.
