Chapel of Filippo Strozzi

The chapel features extensive fresco cycles depicting stories of Saint Philip and Saint John the Evangelist on both lateral walls of the structure.

Filippo Strozzi commissioned this chapel in 1486 after acquiring patronage from the Boni family and hired Filippino Lippi to create the frescoes.

The vault displays four biblical patriarchs - Adam, Noah, Abraham, and Jacob - while the walls present narratives of saints through Renaissance painting techniques.

Visitors can find the chapel in the right transept of the basilica, between the Bardi Chapel and the Tornabuoni Chapel, with guided tours available.

A red porphyry tomb by Benedetto da Maiano contains Filippo Strozzi's remains, decorated with marble reliefs and surrounded by carved flying angels.
