Church of San Giovanni della Pigna, Baroque church in Rione Pigna, Rome, Italy

Church of San Giovanni della Pigna is a baroque building with a single nave covered by a vaulted ceiling. The interior features deep niches and side altars equipped with religious paintings and crafted decorations.

The building was originally dedicated to Saints Eleutherius and Genesius and was reconstructed in 1624 under architect Torroni. Pope Gregory XIII granted the church to the Archconfraternity, marking a new phase in its history.

The Archconfraternity of Piety towards Prisoners operated from this place and helped incarcerated people in Rome starting in 1575. This work shaped the identity of the church and shows the social role that religious institutions played in the city.

The building sits at Traversa Vicolo della Minerva 51 near several historical monuments and transportation connections in central Rome. Access is straightforward as the area connects easily with other cultural sites.

An organ built by the Priori family in the early 18th century decorates the interior and was restored to its original condition in 2007. This instrument is a rare example of the skilled craftsmanship of that period and remains overlooked by many visitors.
