Castello di Rosciano

Castello di Rosciano is a sandstone fortress standing between the Tiber Valley and the Chiascio river, featuring multiple halls and stone chapels throughout. The complex also includes an adjacent Benedictine monastery with additional rooms used for different purposes.

The fortress was built on ancient Etruscan grounds and gained military importance around 1000 CE under the Scifi counts. The Sassorosso family later made it their residence and influenced its development over the following centuries.

The castle displays medieval architecture with chapels and stone staircases that shape how the space feels today. Visitors walk through rooms that show how the Rosciano family lived and gathered across generations.

The fortress can be rented for events and offers restored halls accommodating up to 300 guests. Visitors should note that the location is primarily used for private occasions and advance arrangements are needed to visit.

In 1266, the body of Saint Crispolto was brought to the castle, giving it religious significance for the area. This event helped establish the location's importance and set it apart from the nearby town of Torgiano.
