Santa Maria in Araceli

Santa Maria in Araceli is a baroque church in Vicenza featuring a marble altar created by Tommaso Bezzi in 1696. The interior contains an altarpiece with religious depictions and a 13th-century crucifix displayed on the right side.

Construction began between 1672 and 1680 under architect Guarino Guarini and was consecrated in 1743. The building later stood closed for decades before undergoing major restoration work that finished in 1990.

The name comes from Maria Araceli, a Marian apparition that held meaning for the local community. Inside, sacred artworks remain on display for visitors to see and witness the spiritual tradition of this place.
