Cima dell'Aouillé, Mountain summit in Aosta Valley, Italy
Cima dell'Aouillé is a mountain summit in the Graian Alps located between Val di Rhemes and Valsavarenche valleys, standing at 3,445 meters (11,302 feet) in elevation. The peak has steep rock walls on several sides, with neighboring summits Taou Blanc and Cima di Entrelor positioned nearby in the alpine chain.
Engineer Pio Paganini completed the first documented ascent in 1880, establishing the standard climbing route. This early exploration contributed to the development of mountaineering in the region during that period.
The mountain is part of a three-peak formation known locally as Trittico, which together with neighboring summits shapes how people experience this alpine region.
The climb starts from Pont di Valsavarenche, with different routes offering varying levels of difficulty. Mountaineering equipment and alpine experience are needed for a safe ascent.
The western rock wall features a distinctive concave shell structure that makes climbing technically demanding across smooth and intricate rock formations. This geological feature creates a visually and physically distinctive experience compared to nearby peaks.
