Circolo di conversazione

Circolo di Conversazione is a neoclassical house in Ragusa featuring a facade with six fluted Doric pilasters and decorated cornice elements. The single-story structure includes spaces for reading and gaming as well as a private garden.

The building was constructed in 1850 as a meeting place for local nobility to hold intellectual discussions and social gatherings. Its design reflects the wealth and educated values of this social class at that time.

The ballroom displays ceiling frescoes showing representations of arts and sciences along with portraits of famous artists, reflecting the educated values of local nobility. This artistic decoration still defines the character of the space today.

The building sits on Piazza del Duomo in the Ibla district and is straightforward to locate. The private garden offers a retreat space and the interior rooms can be experienced during a visit.

The interior features four large gilded mirrors above red damask sofas and an unusual pumpkin-shaped copper chandelier. These decorative elements create a distinctive and memorable visual impression.
