Colonna dell'Immacolata, Religious column in San Domenico Square, Palermo, Italy.

The Immaculate Column features a bronze Madonna statue atop gray Billiemi marble, surrounded by four archangel statues at its base in white Carrara marble.

Architect Tommaso Maria Napoli designed the column in 1724, and Giovanni Amico completed its construction in 1728 during King Charles VI of Naples reign.

The Senate of Palermo declared support for the Immaculate Conception dogma in 1624, establishing the monument as a symbol of regional devotion.

The column stands directly in front of San Domenico Church, allowing visitors to observe the Madonna statue through the church's main window.

Every December 8th, firefighters climb their ladder to place a wreath at the feet of the Madonna statue, continuing a tradition from 1954.
