Croda Montanaia, Mountain summit in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy

Croda Montanaia, also called Monfalcon di Montanaia, is the highest mountain of the Monfalconi group in the Friulian Dolomites, reaching 2,548 metres. It lies on the border between the province of Belluno in Veneto and the province of Pordenone in Friuli-Venezia Giulia.

Mountaineers began exploring and mapping this peak in the late 19th century, establishing the first documented climbing routes across the Friulian range. These early expeditions shaped the mountain's reputation as a destination for serious climbers.

The mountain's second name, Monfalcon di Montanaia, links it to the Monfalconi group it belongs to. The peak stands on the border between the provinces of Belluno and Pordenone, so the summit is reached from either the Veneto or the Friuli side.

Summer offers the most favorable conditions for attempting the ascent. Climbers need full mountaineering gear and solid technical skills to safely navigate the steep terrain.

This peak sits among several neighboring summits nearby, including Cima Rosina and Cima Montanaia. This clustering of peaks creates a concentrated area rich in climbing opportunities for mountaineers.
