Cima dei Preti

Cima dei Preti is a mountain peak in the Carnic Prealps standing at 2,706 meters, making it one of the highest points in its mountain range. The summit sits where the Pordenone and Belluno regions meet, creating a clear landmark on the horizon.

The first recorded ascent took place in 1874 when mountaineers Santo Siorpaes and Maurice Holzmann reached the summit. This early climb opened the way for others to explore and traverse this remote peak.

The name refers to priests, reflecting how mountain communities in this region have traditionally named peaks after religious figures. This practice reveals the deep connection between local life and spiritual traditions in these valleys.

The route to the summit follows an alpine trail rated T4 in difficulty, requiring solid hiking experience and fitness. A mountain shelter called Bivacco Paolo Greselin sits lower on the mountain and provides a stopping point for climbers.

This peak ranks as the sixth highest in the entire Friuli-Venezia Giulia region, yet it remains relatively unknown to casual hikers. This quietness makes it an appealing destination for serious climbers seeking less crowded routes.
