Forte di Canarbino

Forte di Canarbino is a military fort in Arcola situated on high ground roughly 260 meters above sea level. From this elevated position it overlooks the Gulf of Poets while surrounded by Mediterranean plant life.

The Kingdom of Italy began construction in 1870 to defend the naval arsenal of La Spezia and finished the fort in 1880. Later it was equipped with anti-aircraft technology to adapt to advances in modern warfare.
