Museo Geopaleontologico

The Museo Geopaleontologico is a natural history museum located within the medieval Castello di San Giorgio in Lerici. Its collection showcases rocks and fossils from the region that document millions of years of Earth's history, along with prehistoric objects found in the area.

The museum opened in 1998 and occupies spaces within a medieval castle built in the 14th century. Its collection reflects the geological and archaeological discoveries that document the long history of this coastal region.

The museum displays Bronze Age figures and objects from the Roman settlement of Luni, which document how people lived and organized their communities in this region. These artifacts show the daily lives and beliefs of ancient inhabitants.

The museum is located at Piazza San Giorgio 1 and can be easily reached through the old town of Lerici. Guided tours can be arranged in advance by contacting the venue directly.
