Galleria d'arte moderna di Milano
Galleria d'arte moderna di Milano, Modern art museum in Milan, Italy
The Galleria d'Arte Moderna displays Italian and European artworks within the grand Villa Reale building, opposite the Giardini Pubblici Indro Montanelli gardens.
Established in 1921, the museum grew through generous donations from prominent Milanese families including the Treves, Ponti, Grassi, and Vismara collections.
The collection features masterworks by Van Gogh, Cézanne, Picasso, Boccioni, and Segantini, representing major movements from the 18th through 20th centuries.
The museum opens Tuesday through Sunday from 9:00 to 17:30, offering wheelchair accessibility and dedicated parking spaces near the entrance.
After World War II, the museum transferred its 20th-century collection to the Padiglione d'Arte Contemporanea, built where palace stables once stood.
