Alpine Botanical Garden of Campo Imperatore

The Alpine Botanical Garden spans across multiple elevations at 2,130 meters, containing more than 1,500 plant species from the Apennine mountain range.

Professor Vincenzo Rivera established this research facility in 1950, with its official opening occurring in 1952 as a center for alpine plant studies.

The garden functions as an educational center where scientists conduct research on plant ecology while offering programs about alpine flora conservation.

Visitors can reach the garden through the Campo Imperatore cable car or hiking trails, with free admission encouraging exploration throughout different seasons.

The collection includes over 400 different plant species arranged in sections according to their natural altitudinal zones in the mountain environment.
