The Museattivo Claudio Costa museum occupies a former psychiatric hospital building, displaying paintings, mixed media works, and sculptures from various artists and patients.
The institution, established in 1988 as I.M.F.I (Institute for Unconscious Materials and Forms), received its current name in 1995 following the death of founder Claudio Costa.
The collection features works from international artists including Davide Mansueto Raggio, Aurelio Caminati, and Emanuele Luzzati alongside therapeutic art pieces from former hospital residents.
The museum relocated to the Michelini therapeutic complex building, with the Sculpture Garden situated within the surrounding gardens of the facility.
The museum integrates therapeutic art techniques based on British Sir Read method, transforming aggressive tendencies into creative expression through sculptural works.
