Monte Settepani

Monte Settepani is a mountain peak in the Ligurian Prealps that rises to about 1,400 meters and forms a watershed between the Ligurian Sea and the Po river system. The slopes display a mix of alpine meadows and forest areas with vegetation that changes with elevation.

The mountain witnessed conflicts during World War II between Italian partisan forces and Axis military units. These wartime events left marks on the landscape and remain part of the region's local memory.

The area around the summit is recognized for its ecological importance and attracts visitors interested in mountain landscapes and natural habitats. Local communities in the surrounding villages maintain traditions connected to pastoralism and mountain agriculture.

The peak can be reached by multiple routes including an asphalted road via Colle del Melogno and hiking trails starting from nearby villages. Route choice and hiking conditions vary by season and starting location, so it helps to plan ahead for your preferred approach.

The summit hosts military infrastructure including a weather radar system and spans across five different municipalities. This unusual administrative situation makes it one of the few peaks shared by multiple local jurisdictions in the Alps.
