Monte Sparagio, Mountain summit in Province of Trapani, Italy
Monte Sparagio reaches an elevation of 1110 meters, making it the highest peak in the Trapani region with limestone formations and steep slopes.
In 1862, a rectangular rock formation near the summit served as a gathering point for local bandits who used the mountain's remote location.
The mountain trails pass through Bosco Giacolamaro, featuring traditional stone structures called pagghiaio used by local shepherds for hay storage.
The 6.6-kilometer hiking trail starts at Hotel Terra degli Elimi in Buseto Palizzolo, requiring approximately 2.5 hours to reach the summit.
During winter months, the barren rocky landscape transforms with cyclamens, marigolds, crocuses, and buttercups covering the mountain slopes.
