The Museo Enrico Caruso is a house museum in Villa Caruso di Bellosguardo in Lastra a Signa, purchased by the tenor in 1906 and restored with artworks and structural changes. It displays photographs, writings, personal objects, stage costumes, and a collection of records, plus a touch-screen path to hear his voice and see tour locations.
The house was the residence of a famous opera tenor in the early 20th century. The villa was later restored and opened as a museum in 2012 to preserve his legacy.
The museum opened on 25 February 2012, the 139th anniversary of Enrico Caruso's birth, in the villa he bought in 1906. Its collection comes largely from the Centro studi carusiani, which donated stage costumes, alongside photographs, writings and personal objects. A New York collector gave a set of records the tenor himself recorded.
The villa is accessible via wheelchair-friendly pathways, with exhibition areas designed for different mobility needs. It is advisable to check opening hours in advance and allow enough time to explore all rooms.
The interactive exhibit lets visitors hear Caruso's voice while a touch-screen system shows the places his tours reached. The records were donated by a New York collector, and the stage costumes came from the Centro studi carusiani.
