Signa Castello

Signa Castello is a medieval fortress perched on a hill overlooking the town, with stone walls, defensive towers, and a 14th-century gateway. The structure combines defensive architecture with the natural terrain of the hilltop.

The castle was founded around 1000 and served as the original settlement center of Signa. It maintained its defensive role for centuries while the region experienced numerous conflicts.

The hilltop is accessible on foot from the town center along narrow streets that become steeper as you ascend. Wear comfortable walking shoes and allow time for the uphill walk.
