Bussento Caves, Protected natural oasis in Morigerati, Italy.

The Bussento Caves sit within a limestone canyon where a river reappears after flowing underground, creating rapids and cascades that drop through the rocky terrain. Walking through this space, visitors see stone formations, flowing water, and lush vegetation surrounding the river's path.

An 18th-century mill once powered by the river's force operated in this area to grind grain for nearby communities. This structure reflects how local life depended on the river's energy for survival and work.

The World Wildlife Fund manages this 607-hectare natural reserve, promoting environmental education and conservation of native species.

Wear sturdy footwear since the path is made of stone and can be slippery near the water. Arriving early in the day helps you explore the area with more space and enjoy the surroundings fully.

The river vanishes underground at Caselle in Pittari and reappears here after traveling roughly 7 kilometers through hidden passages beneath the earth. This hidden network reveals the complex geology formed by limestone and water over time.
