Palazzo Pianetti, Rococo palace in Iesi, Italy
Palazzo Pianetti is a Rococo palace in Jesi, a town in the Marche region, with a three-story facade marked by symmetrical windows and ornate stone detailing. Inside, a series of gallery rooms display artworks and historical collections tied to the region.
Construction of the palace started in 1748, designed by architect Domenico Luigi Valeri for the Pianetti family, one of the leading noble families in Jesi at the time. After the family line ended, the building passed into public hands and was later turned into a cultural space.
The palace holds a collection of paintings by Lorenzo Lotto, a Venetian painter who worked in Jesi during the 16th century. His works are among the most sought-after in the Marche region and draw visitors from across Italy.
The palace is located in the historic center of Jesi and is easy to reach on foot from the main squares of the town. Allow enough time for your visit, as the interior rooms cover several floors and the collections are spread across many spaces.
On the second floor, a full cycle of frescoes by Placido Lazzarini covers the walls and ceiling of an entire room with scenes from the Aeneid. This makes it one of the few spaces in the Marche region where a mythological fresco program of this scale has survived intact.
