Parco Colletta, Urban park in Turin, Italy
Parco Colletta is a large park in Turin that stretches along where the Po and Dora Riparia rivers meet, offering wide green spaces with walking paths throughout. The grounds feature volleyball courts, five-a-side football fields, and a cycling track that runs continuously around the park.
The park was created by transforming former farmland into a public space for the city. The old farmhouse dating back to 1681 still stands there, marking centuries of agricultural use before becoming a park.
Community gardens within the park are tended by local residents who grow vegetables and spend time together in these shared spaces. These plots show how neighbors use the land to connect and maintain relationships with one another.
The park is easy to reach and offers many paths for walking and cycling in different directions. It works well to visit earlier in the day when the space is less crowded and you have time to explore.
A play area for children within the grounds is built from black locust wood and uses natural branches and roots as part of its structure. The design creates playground equipment that looks like natural forms rather than typical metal or plastic gear.
