The Palazzo Abbaziale di Loreto stands as a three-story religious complex featuring a central courtyard and multiple architectural elements from the 1700s.
The palace replaced an older monastery destroyed by an earthquake in 1732, leading to its reconstruction under architect Domenico Antonio Vaccaro in 1734.
The palace contains the State Library of Montevergine, which holds 200,000 volumes and 7,000 parchments documenting centuries of Italian religious history.
Visitors can access the ground floor of the palace, which includes an ancient pharmacy with 300 hand-painted majolica vases and three Flemish tapestries.
The palace maintains an active liquor production facility operated by the Benedictine monks of Montevergine, continuing centuries-old distillation traditions.
