Teatro Comunale Carlo Gesualdo

The Carlo Gesualdo Theater is a modern performing arts venue in Avellino with an oval-shaped interior auditorium and rectangular exterior footprint. It contains 12 side boxes, 5 rear boxes, and a sizable stage designed to accommodate diverse productions.

Construction of this performing arts venue began in 1992 as part of the city's recovery following the devastating 1980 earthquake. Architects Carlo Aymonino and Gianmichele Aurigemma completed the project in 2001, helping to revitalize the area.

The theater bears the name of a famous composer from Avellino who lived in the 16th century, connecting the building to the city's musical heritage. Today, this connection remains visible in the variety of musical and dramatic performances that take place on its stage.
