Palazzo della Facoltà d'Ingegneria, Engineering faculty palace in Fuorigrotta district, Naples, Italy.
Palazzo della Facoltà d'Ingegneria is an eleven-story academic building in the Fuorigrotta district that serves multiple departments of the University of Naples Federico II. A large mosaic decorates its facade and portrays human achievement and technological progress throughout history.
The complex was built between 1955 and 1970 following designs by Luigi Cosenza, Michele Pagano, Marcello Picone, and Luigi Tocchetti. The architects created a building intended to modernize the university in the postwar period and establish a significant academic hub for the region.
The structure houses multiple departments of the University of Naples Federico II, serving as a center for technical education and research.
Entry is from the street in front where doors lead to different sections of the building. Since it is an active university facility, public areas like the library in the lower floors are easily accessible, though research areas may have restricted access depending on current academic activities.
The building was deliberately designed with considerable height to visually screen the residential buildings of the Viale Augusto complex behind it. This architectural strategy created a barrier between the public realm and the private housing areas beyond.
