Punta Tre Vescovi, Mountain summit in Piedmont, Italy
Punta Tre Vescovi is a mountain standing at the junction of three valleys: the Lys Valley, Valsesia, and Cervo Valley in the northern Alps. Its location at this crossroads gives it a key position for viewing the surrounding alpine landscape and understanding how these regions meet.
The name comes from the Middle Ages when the surrounding lands belonged to three different dioceses: Aosta, Biella, and Novara. The mountain served as a boundary marker between these ecclesiastical territories of that era.
The villages near the summit maintain traditional mountain crafts and seasonal celebrations that reflect generations of Alpine life. Walking through these settlements, visitors encounter a living mountain culture woven into daily routines and local practices.
Trails lead to the summit from the Col de la Grande Mologne and from various villages, offering options for different fitness levels. It is wise to be prepared for changing alpine weather and bring proper mountain gear.
Several alpine lakes sit on different slopes of the mountain: the Trois-Evêques lakes on the Valsesian side and Grekij Lake on the Valdotain side. These high-altitude bodies of water create distinct landscapes depending on which route a visitor takes.
