Rifugio Guglielmo Pelizzo, Mountain shelter in Savogna, Italy.
Rifugio Guglielmo Pelizzo is a mountain hut on Monte Matajur at 1320 meters elevation in Savogna. It holds about 24 beds and a dining room that can seat around 120 people.
The hut opened in 1975 and was named after Guglielmo Pelizzo, a former mayor of Cividale and senator. In 2015 it received an additional dedication to Giovanni Pelizzo.
The hut serves dishes from the area using herbs gathered from meadows around Monte Matajur. You can taste how the kitchen keeps alive the food traditions of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
The hut is open daily and serves meals at lunch and dinner times. It works well as a base for hikers who want to explore multiple mountain trails in the area.
The hut sits where several hiking routes meet, including a long-distance trail that connects three countries. This path winds through varied mountain landscapes and draws hikers from many places.
