Kobarid Museum

Kobarid Museum is a military history museum in Slovenia displaying uniforms, weapons, photographs, and personal belongings from soldiers who fought along the Soča Front. The collections show the experience of combatants from different sides during the mountain warfare campaign.

The museum preserves the history of twelve battles between Italian and Austro-Hungarian forces from 1915 to 1917 along the mountain frontier. These military campaigns transformed the region and left a deep mark on local identity.

The museum serves as a place of remembrance for soldiers from different nations who fell in mountain warfare. Visitors can see personal items and letters that show how people endured harsh conditions together.

The museum is open on most days with guided tours available in several languages at different times. A walking trail connecting historical battle sites starts from the building and can be explored at your own pace.

A special room recreates the harsh winter conditions soldiers faced in the karst mountains with snow and freezing cold. This space conveys the physical suffering that is often overlooked in historical accounts.
