Tito Zilioli Hut, Mountain hut in Sella delle Ciaule, Italy.
Tito Zilioli Hut is a mountain shelter located at 2,250 meters (7,382 feet) elevation in the Monti Sibillini, positioned between Monte Vettore and Redentore peaks. The facility provides twelve sleeping spaces: some open beds in the public section and additional bunk beds in a reservable area.
The Ascoli Piceno section of the Italian Alpine Club constructed this shelter in 1960 as a mountain refuge for climbers. It bears the name of an alpine climber who died during a winter ascent near Vettoretto.
The shelter reflects traditional mountain building styles of the Apennines, with sturdy stone walls and simple furnishings suited to the harsh environment. Visitors encounter an authentic gathering place where climbers meet and the rhythms of regional mountain life persist.
Access requires proper mountain gear and reasonable physical fitness, as the location is reachable only on foot via hiking trails. The reservation system operates online, and visitors should familiarize themselves with current trail conditions before arriving.
Following severe earthquake damage in 2016, the shelter underwent complete reconstruction in 2020 while keeping its essential character intact. The restoration combined contemporary building techniques with the original functional purpose, making it safer for high-altitude use in a seismically active area.
