Torre Servizi Tecnici Comunali, Municipal skyscraper in Porta Nuova district, Milan, Italy.
The Torre Servizi Tecnici Comunali is a 24-story office building rising 90 meters at the intersection of Via Pirelli and Via Gioia. It features a distinctive double-arch bridge at its base that spans across Via Melchiorre Gioia and links different sections of the complex.
Built in 1966 by architects Bazzoni, Fratino, Gandolfi, and Putelli, the building was part of Milan's Centro Direzionale development plan. This initiative modernized the Porta Nuova district through contemporary administrative structures.
The tower reflects Milan's shift during the 1960s when the city expanded upward to house growing administrative functions. This vertical growth reshaped the Porta Nuova district and shows how modern design transformed urban space.
The building sits at a major intersection in central Milan and is easily reached by public transport. The base is freely accessible, allowing visitors to view the distinctive double-arch bridge and modern architecture from the exterior.
The building was purchased through a public auction in 2019 for 175 million euros and underwent major renovation. This transformation preserved the original structure while incorporating modern facilities and systems.
