The Teatro Caio Melisso features a horseshoe shape with three rows of boxes, a gallery, and ceiling paintings depicting Apollo and the Muses.
The theatre opened in 1667 as Teatro di Piazza del Duomo, underwent multiple renovations, and received its current name in 1880 after a reconstruction by Giovanni Montiroli.
Since 1958, the Teatro Caio Melisso serves as a primary venue for opera performances during the annual Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto.
The theatre contains 300 seats distributed across three levels of boxes and maintains regular performance schedules throughout the festival season.
The theatre's curtain displays a grand painting titled Glory of Caio Melisso, created by artist Domenico Bruschi in the 19th century.
